THE CHAMPIONS SERIES 75; TOPIC: BE CREATIVE

BE CREATIVE

 MAKE YOUR HANDS USEFUL.

Creativity is first a mindset and then an attitude. There is no problem we come face to face with that is new, they have all taken place and were either tackled or not. It is how you solve that same problem that determines how creative you are.

"We are all capable of doing great things, but not everyone would do great things or achieve greatness."

Greatness is not cheap, some persons like cheap things, they rather settle for less than the best, because they don't want stress.

They rather clap for the best, than endure the rigours of becoming the best.

We're worth more than what our eyes can see, but we need to work more than the crowd to become that thing which we were created to be.

"Nothing good comes easy, I hope you've heard it before? You have to put both your mind and hands to work to achieve the greatness you desire if not you will wallow in hunger.

Greatness won't fall on you, you will be the one to fall on it; you'll have to work for it earn it yourself.

What is in your hands? Or let me rephrase what can you do with your hands?

FACTS:

1. TALENTED BUT TORMENTED BY LAZINESS: There are so many talented people out there living like peasants, because of laziness and indecision.

John Maxwell wrote a book titled, "Talent is never enough." it is a powerful book, I recommend it to you.

Your talent may bring you recognition, or even make you successful, but you need more than your talent to remain relevant and successful. You need hard work, consistency, and good character. Your hands must be on deck. I keep using hands because when a man decides to change the world he does not place his hands in his pocket or fold them, they are either holding something or doing something.

2. EDUCATED, BUT UNINFORMED: Some are educated, they attended private institutions, some schooled abroad in schools Harvard, Oxford, Leeds, Cambridge name it, while others attended federal and state universities, but their minds are as shallow as a ditch, they only talk of their past glory, they don't even look forward to creating a greater future. They are the self-acclaimed genius that doesn't need to study before knowing things or getting information. They never opened any book after graduating from the higher institution. Whatever will stress their mental faculty is seen as an enemy of comfort. The most annoying thing about these set of persons is that they are the ones that will keep complaining that, there are no jobs anywhere. The truth is that there are jobs, but they are not qualified to take up those jobs, their only qualification is a paper, and nothing else, no experience, no technical knowledge.

3. SUPER CRITICS: There are those gifted in criticizing others. These sets of persons are truly gifted in criticism but have nothing to offer. Their voices are the loudest among the crowd, but if you place them on a scale they won't amount to anything. On their own they as useless as a rag, all they know how to do is to make noise. Their excuse is often, "the country is bad, nothing is working, assuming I was born abroad." As if that will cure their deformed attitude.

It is not about where you were born, it is about what you're doing to make your life impactful where you were born and on those within your reach. Shun the excuses and take a step to make your life count. Put your hands to work, don't fold them.

Those who will change the world are those who put their ideas to work and don't run away from problems but are ready to solve problems wherever they found themselves.

Again! I ask what do you have in your hands?

“With that which is in your hands, you can turn a wilderness into a fruitful vine, you can build a city from a desert.”

Life will always pay those who are diligent and hardworking.

SHORT STORY

I heard a story of a young orphan boy, whose parents died while he was just three years old, ever since then he was transferred from one foster home to another, till he became 17 Years of age when he finally decided to live on his own, he was a well-constructed picture of a street boy, he does whatever he found his hands-on, whenever people wanted to do an extremely dirty job, like digging of the gutter, or laying of the foundation of buildings they'll call on him, he became a popular somebody, all over his street. About five (5) years later, he became scarce in his street, his friends hardly see him, most persons thought he had died, others concluded he must have been down with a chronic disease. Nobody cared to ask after him.

One day Clement Isong resurfaced in his neighbourhood five years later, looking tattered, nobody was surprised most of the women in his street could not hold back their thoughts, they poured it right at him, and we know nothing good can come out of your life because you will be good for nothing except digging gutters and building of others.

Some said, "We thought you were even dead."

Clement Isong was very disappointed at the people he called family, what baffled him was the fact that, even with all the free services he offered to them, they still regarded him as nothing.

Meanwhile, a very large construction project was going on in the street, it was the building of a modern secondary school structure, everyone in the street troop down to the site to work because the pay was juicy, those who were civil and public servants took excuses in their workplace, just to earn enough money for the upkeep of their families.

Three months later the project was commissioned, the governor of the state came around to commission it, guess, who they saw beside the governor? your guess is as good as mine, Clement Isong the boy from the ghetto, everyone was mesmerized, they couldn't believe their eyes. Before commissioning the structure, the governor heaped praises on him, and narrated how he got to know Clement Isong, he continued, " exactly four(4)years while I was inspecting one of our building site the capital, I saw a young man working with all seriousness, while others were talking and rest I saw him paying attention to his duties, at a point, I saw him work up to the supervisor and told the supervisor that they should try his method because at that point the supervisor was confused, the supervisor shouted and insulted him, it was at the point shouting on him I walked up to them to asked what was going on, he gently narrated everything to me, I remember he even said, "If only we can try his method, we will spend less." I was impressed, I invited him to my office and asked for his ideas, he draws it on a piece of paper and handed it over to me. I smiled and asked him, if he was aware am an architect, he said no. I asked him which institution he attended he said non, that he only has his 0'level certificate. On that day, I knew I had found a sincere friend and one who I can trust with building projects in the state. Most of the hood roads and structures you see around the state are his handwork. Please, help me celebrate Mr Clement Isong who has decided to give back to society, what he was not given, a modern secondary school." and then he cut the ribbon.

The whole crowd clapped and shouted his name, Clement Isong!

Most persons were left in a Dilemma, especially those who insulted him to his face, a lot of questions arose in their hearts.

CONCLUSION:

This is a story of a diligent young man, who rose from nothing to something, from grass to grace, and from pit to palace.

What are you doing with your hands?

Great things do not happen to lazy people; neither do opportunities flow to slumbering people”

Great people do not burn great, they grew into it, by taking steps no one is willing to take, pay sacrifice no is willing to pay, make decisions no one is ready to make and disciplined themselves while others mock them.

Make sure you give expression to your creative ability, let your gifts and talent blossom and impact lives.

#THE CHAMPIONS SERIES 72, TOPIC: I AM A WOMAN

I Am A Woman INTRODUCTION: After birth, as we grew, we were taught to understand the implication of our gender, the consequences of making wrong actions and attributes that distinguish you from the male gender. For some of us, we raised questions, our minds wondered ‘Why is it so hard to be a woman or a girl, as the case may be?’ But other times, we uttered words like ‘Thank God I'm not a man'. So we found ourselves accepting our gender definition when the condition was favorable and appealing, and also wishing we had made another choice, if we could, as far as gender was concerned. May I remind you that once you cannot accept or appreciate the fact that you came as a woman, you would always find fault in ‘being a woman', you would never consider yourself good enough as a woman. CAN I BE ANYTHING ELSE? Let's talk about me for a moment. I am a woman (well, I would define myself better as a Lady, with respect to age and marital status). But, the list progres...

POEM TITLED: WHO ARE YOU?

Perhaps, we are not afraid to die But of our kin vanishing when we stagger with cravings Of our voices echoing in empty homes Empty homes that once roared with thrill and glee For if we sit and think of the life a single breath holds, How shortly a name sticks in our mouths, And how very shortly it vanishes We will be still With purpose in our eyes, we roam the earth The lies we live guard against reality and true persona The alarm goes off, We jump into the streets to a place we many a time hate To an environment that gives our souls treachery colours Time is a monster When it takes, it takes everything Do you know why we write our names on things? Perchance if your answer is same as mine, We should write our names on our bodies too. Then again, we do not. Because we own ourselves? No That golden recollection of who we are is what we own Especially in a world that forgets The silence can stroll in anytime The lips that once said our names will shut their doors You see, warnings ...
